Ash Shaafi - The (Only) Healer

Ash Shaafi is the only One who can heal and cure.

The meaning of "healing" is to remove what harms or hurts.

ALLAH Al Shaafi continuously works to heal our bodies and hearts. The continuous cellular turnover in our bodies is an example of this. He heals what is not well and removes what is not needed. He also cleans our hearts of doubts and confusions when He wills, and hence clears our intentions towards His straight path.

ALLAH has the authority to test by sufferings and to heal them when He wills.

He says: “And if Allah touches you with harm, none can remove it but He, and if He touches you with good, then He is all-Able to do all things [Quran, 6:17]” 

The Quran is the word of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta'ala, it is a book of healing from ignorance and misguidance. It is the book of clarity and differentiation, good from bad, purity from impurity, and right from wrong.

So, we need to look only toward Him for healing. We can directly ask him, “O, My Healer Rab, heal me.” This will be better than asking people to pray for our healing and asking others to heal instead.

This is always good to seek all necessary measures to heal illnesses, but the focus of the heart’s desire to heal should be centred towards ALLAH only. We should be very sure that no one else can heal anything without His decree and decision.

ALLAH Almighty heals diseases of the heart, such as hatred, jealousy, and selfishness, and heals bodies from diseases and discomforts. No one else can do that.

The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no disease that Allah has created, except that He also has created its treatment."  

"‏ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللهُ دَاءً إِلاَّ أَنْزَلَ لَهُ شِفَاءً ‏"

(Sahih al-Bukhari 5678)

This hadith gives us a greater insight into this name. He made the sufferings to be cured and tested His creatures for the temporary pain followed by a prolonged relief. May ALLAH heal our hearts, souls and bodies from all sufferings. aameen
