Ar Rasheed - The Right in Guidance
Ar Rasheed is the One who guides toward the right way.
This name is derived from the root of ر ش د, which means understanding and analysing a matter rightly, making a wise decision based on the facts of righteousness.
ALLAH Ar Rasheed knows His creations deeply, and so He guides creations to their interests and directs them to what is better for them. Here, guidance means reform and uprightness, while its opposite is misguidance, ie being lost.
The Prophets of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta’ala got a greater share from the guidance of ALLAH. They were given this precious gift to spread ALLAH’s message to Mankind. ALLAH mentioned this in the Quran in many places.
This is mentioned as a great favour of ALLAH to our father, Prophet Ibrahim عليه السَّلام.
The name of Al-Rasheed has two distinct aspects.
The first is that the Ar Rasheed is the One who has guidance; this is because He is the most wise, and there is no doubt or falsehood in His actions.
The second is that the guidance of ALLAH is in the right direction; glory be to Him. He is characterised by the perfection of His absolute perfection, the accuracy in all judgments, and the most righteous. There are no aspects of negligence or carelessness in any of His decrees.
He sent the Quran to us that directs us to what is best for us. This is meant to guide humans to their right path in this world and in the hereafter.
These aayat of the Quran tell us beautifully about the opinion of the Jinn Kind regarding the Quran when they listened to this message of guidance from their Rab.
This tells us that the first step in guidance is “Tawheed”, and from this origin, all other ways of guidance can grow and flourish.
ALLAH alone guides His servants and directs them to the path of goodness. ALLAH does not plan the affairs of a servant except for all good.
He guides whomever He wills and misguides whomever He wills. However, since He created man, He has given a fair portion to man, from all provisions and life affairs, so as the guidance too, and indeed ALLAH has done all this in the best way.
At times, the days in life seem complicated, but He is the One who keeps us on the straight path and makes it possible for us to stay strong in difficulties and continue towards the right direction.
The human part in this name is to seek guidance and strength from ALLAH alone. When we turn to Him and rely on His guidance, He guides us towards righteousness and directs us to make the right decisions.
