An Noor - The Light
An-Noor is one of the most beautiful names of ALLAH. ALLAH is the light that illuminates our lives with His rahmah and His guidance.
It is a name that has so many dimensions accumulated in it, and all aspects are equally impressive.
On one side, Noor is considered the known character of ALLAH that we know from the Quran and the Hadith (particularly from the ahadith describing Al-Isra wal Mairaj journey). On the other side, it is the quality of ALLAH subhanahu wa ta'ala to illuminate our lives with His Noor of guidance, for that purpose, He sent for us the Messenger and the Book.
Before understanding "ALLAH is An-Noor", we start by understanding the "Noor" or light. Light is something that is seen itself and makes other things seen. Imagine a completely dark room, and suddenly, if we turn on the light, we will be able to see the source of light from which it is coming from and because of that light, we can see whatever we have in that room.
Similarly, we can understand how ALLAH is the light of the earth and the skies, as He is the originator and the creator. Without Him, there is nothing to exist and be seen.
He has given us the eyes with the ability to see and the brain with the intelligence to know. His guidance made us aware of His greater status as well as our potential capacities and limitations in life. His kingdom has no borders, and He can be seen in all of creation in His kingdom. He is the light that is absolutely dominant over everything without any comparison. He sent us the light of guidance (the Quran) that is essential for understanding and managing our life matters successfully.
ALLAH bestowed part of His Noor to His selected ones, to guide others towards it. The common people can get this Noor by making their efforts.
For the whole of humanity, He sent the Quran as guidance from the darkness towards Noor. This is the Noor of ALLAH to give us a clear understanding of life.
How to get more shares in His Noor of guidance, and what efforts can we do? By doing good deeds for ALLAH’s pleasure, doing ALLAH's zikr and obedience. Also, by making us more beneficial to our fellow humans and by becoming kinder human beings.
Not to forget the power of making evident our learning of Islam in our actions. This is always important to remember our responsibilities as Muslims and keep on working to raise the name of ALLAH and Islam by our conduct and day-to-day dealings.
